Today, the remaining six finalists of HPSpace went to Orchard Road... Then we were given the ultimate question.
CHOOSE YOUR TEAMMATES for the next, the final group challenge. There were two solid fronts. There was the David and Lora tandem, which was quite obvious. These two have been hanging out like siblings from day one. Then there was the Note and Adrienne tandem. That came as a surprise for me. It made me feel that I was not part of their powerhouse group in the fashion challenge.
I had to choose wisely. Would i choose to go into the next challenge with a powerhouse team (Note + Adrienne) or otherwise. The consequence of going in strong on the second to the last challenge is that I could be pit against potential individual vote-swingers come finals day. I had to play the game and take the risk where the risk needed taking... DOWNSHIFT. Mr. Francisco pulls a masterful move of choosing David and Lora while handing over Sawan (the underappreciated creative madman) to Note and Adrienne. Knowing that vibe management is the ultimate requirement in winning group challenges, I sort of knew that with Lora and David I had strong teammates who'd complement my skillset.
David is a strong "Accounts" person... He can sell stuff.. He's won a challenge and evaded a loss through his excellent pitch. Then there's Lora whom I'd like to classify under "Production Machine". She has the taste, the smarts and ability to create stuff on a variety of media.
Without prior knowledge of the challenge at hand, it was quite a nerve-racking choice since I knew I could coast to the finals by riding the Note team or I could FINALLY stand on my own. I stood my ground. I flexed my muscles and roared... Never in my life has one decision point felt so pivotal... I literally ran a fever right after my decision.
Then came the challenge, straight from the DRAGON LADY OF ADVERTISING herself, Linda Locke. It's going to be a MARKETING CHALLENGE where we were to mount a guerilla marketing campaign AND launch a Viral Video Advert for the HP Pavilion Thin and Light Notebooks.
Damned I was stoked... This time, I will finally... finally flex my muscles...
